Hosting
The site is hosted on a server operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany, under a data-processing agreement in accordance with Article 28 GDPR. When you visit, the web server records the requested address, the time, the HTTP status, the referring page and your browser's identification string, together with your IP address, in a server log. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of the site (Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Logs are rotated daily and deleted automatically after seven days.
Analytics
We measure use of the site with Matomo, an open-source analytics application that runs on our own server under matomo.communities-that-care.eu. No data leaves that server. Matomo is configured to work without cookies and without a persistent identifier: your IP address is truncated before storage, no fingerprint of your browser is created, and your visit cannot be linked to any other. Because no data is stored on your device and no individual is identified, this processing requires no consent under § 25 of the German Telecommunications-Digital-Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG), and its legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding which pages are read (Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR). If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, Matomo honours it.
No third-party services
Fonts are served from this site. There is no Google Analytics, no Google Fonts, no embedded social-media widgets and no content-delivery network. Links to external sites are marked as such; once you follow one, that site's privacy notice applies.
Contact by e-mail
If you write to us, we process the personal data you send in order to answer you (Article 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR). We keep correspondence for as long as the matter requires and delete it afterwards, subject to statutory retention periods.
Mailing list CTC Network Europe
If you join the CTC Network Europe mailing list through the form in the contact panel, we process your e-mail address in order to send you the list mails. Signup is double opt-in: after you submit the form we send a confirmation link, and only when you open that link is your address stored. The confirmation link is valid for 24 hours; unconfirmed addresses are not stored at all. Confirmed addresses are kept in the mailing-list module of the Odoo installation that FINDER e.V. operates on its own server in Germany, and list mails are sent through FINDER's own mail server. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can leave the list at any time through the link at the end of every list mail or by writing to us; your address is then deleted. To prevent abuse, the signup service counts requests per IP address in memory for one hour and writes a truncated form of the address (the network part only) to its server log, which is rotated by size; the full address is not stored.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you (Article 15), to have it rectified (Article 16) or erased (Article 17), to restrict its processing (Article 18), to data portability (Article 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Article 21). You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; the authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
