Descriptive analysis in German, published in Das Gesundheitswesen (2024, vol. 86, no. 7, pp. 474–482), of every programme listed in the Grüne Liste Prävention, the online evidence register of effectiveness-tested prevention and health-promotion programmes for children and adolescents in Germany. The authors set out to characterise the listed programmes, identify focal points and under-represented areas, and improve the register’s search functions. Working from the register’s existing categories, they refined them inductively and deductively into sub-categories, operationalised them and coded every entry with a standard form. The 102 programmes listed as of 2/2024 address children and adolescents directly and, as secondary target groups, mainly teachers and parents; social and life-skills programmes and parent training dominate. Violence and bullying (63.7%), addiction (46.1%) and mental health (35.3%) are frequent topics, whereas nutrition and physical activity (4.9%) are barely represented, and 88.2% of the programmes can be mapped to the health insurers’ funding criteria under §20a of Social Code Book V. For CTC coalitions the paper documents how broad the German programme menu is and where its gaps lie.
