Summary
Peer-reviewed study (in German) testing whether Weitblick, which transfers the Communities That Care system to the individual school, builds a school’s capacity for science-based prevention. In a sequential design the control group is formed from the baseline data of schools that start later: of 51 schools recruited between September 2023 and March 2026, 29 entered the control and 11 the intervention group. Several key informants per school were surveyed every two years (n = 356); responses were aggregated to school level and analysed with paired t-tests. On the primary outcome, adoption of science-based prevention, only the intervention group improved (g = 0.82; 95% CI 0.15–1.45). Cross-sector cooperation also improved only there, though the confidence interval just includes zero (g = 0.66; 95% CI −0.03–1.45). Social norms worsened in the intervention group (g = −0.93; 95% CI −1.91 to −0.15), but also in the control group. The effects are of the order reported for CTC and support the school adaptation; few schools and a non-randomised design limit the conclusions.
