Book chapter (in German) in an edited volume on the effects of social work, presenting the Grüne Liste Prävention, the recommendation list of evaluated prevention programmes maintained by the Lower Saxony Crime Prevention Council. The author starts from the growing demand for evidence in prevention and the questions behind it: which programmes have which effects, for whom and under which conditions. Registers of tested programmes emerged mainly in the English-speaking world; the Grüne Liste adapts the idea for German-speaking practice. The chapter explains the register’s aims, its inclusion criteria, the rating criteria that sort programmes by the strength of their effectiveness evidence, the search functions and programme profiles, and its limits and planned development. Its central caution is that a good programme works only when it is implemented well; a poorly delivered programme can lose its effect entirely. For CTC communities the register is the tool used in the action-planning phase to match programmes to prioritised risk and protective factors.
