Summary
Results report on the autumn 2023 wave of Malmö's CTC youth survey, compiled by the central CTC development leaders at the city office's sustainability department. All pupils in school years 6 to 9 and in the first two years of upper secondary school were invited; 18,635 answered, a response rate of 82.3 per cent. The survey measures 24 risk and 12 protective factors and problem outcomes such as substance use, offending, violence and mental ill-health, reported for the city's fourteen statistical areas, including the nine without CTC area teams. City-wide, mental ill-health is the most widespread problem, girls' use of snus and e-cigarettes has risen markedly, alcohol shows no uniform trend, and self-reported offending among boys rose in ten of fourteen areas. Permissive attitudes towards carrying weapons, theft, violence and truancy and low school commitment are the most prevalent risk factors; peer substance use fell and family attachment rose in every area since the previous wave. In the five CTC areas most prioritised factors moved in the intended direction, though changes were small and two area teams were vacant; school-level results are shown for the Good Behaviour Game (Hjärnspelet) and EFFEKT.
