Sažetak
Greek-language chapter in the Festschrift for Nestor Courakis, presenting the school survey of the Cypriot Communities That Care programme. After outlining the risk and protective factor paradigm, the CTC approach and the Cypriot context, the authors describe the Latsia programme (after-school activities, a psychologist, a coordinator) and its survey: between 2007 and 2012, with consent of the Ministry of Education, 871 pupils aged 12 to 15 in three Nicosia-district gymnasia (Latsia, Aglantzia, Klirou) completed a 112-item questionnaire. The cross-sectional data were analysed with structural equation modelling, offending being measured by eleven indicators such as arrest, weapon carrying, drug selling, theft and assault. Risk and protective factors at individual, family, school and neighbourhood level were associated with alcohol and drug use and offending. In the model, family was the strongest protective component, school and neighbourhood moderate; among risk components, peers and school loaded highest, attitudes and neighbourhood lower; risk and protection correlated at −.51, and risk factors related far more strongly to antisocial activity (.98) than protective factors (.22). The authors conclude that prevention must reduce risk and strengthen protection at once, with the family first. The chapter analyses survey data; it does not evaluate the programme's effects.
