German-language overview in Public Health Forum presenting Communities That Care as a strategy for integrated violence prevention at municipal level. The author, of the Lower Saxony Crime Prevention Council, describes it as a cross-setting approach: instead of treating violence, substance use and mental health as separate portfolios, a municipality uses one shared analysis of risk and protective factors to develop or refine an integrated strategy for violence prevention and health promotion. Two practical consequences are stressed. Prevention offers are concentrated on the risk and protective factors that matter most for local children and adolescents, and evaluated programmes are anchored permanently in regular institutions such as schools, childcare and youth services instead of running as time-limited projects.
