Resumen
Chapter on the Netherlands in Delinquency and Substance Use in Europe, the volume arising from the CTC-EU project's survey comparison. It describes the background of the Communities That Care strategy in the Netherlands and reports results of the CTC Youth Survey administered in 2011, during the Dutch effect study, to 5,887 young people. The analysis covers violence and delinquency, other problem behaviours, 20 risk factors and 10 protective factors in the domains family, school, friends and community: prevalences of violent and delinquent acts and other problem behaviours, their associations with the risk and protective factors examined with logistic regression and odds ratios, the population attributable fraction as a measure of the share of exposure explained by each factor, and the cumulative effect of clustered risk and protective factors. The authors conclude that the chapter confirms what is known about problem behaviour and its predictors while shedding fresh light on it, and that it shows how violence and delinquency can be targeted by social policy and prevention. A descriptive and correlational analysis; it does not report on the effects of CTC.
