Sažetak
Original scientific paper on the self-assessment of the county-level prevention coalition of the Istrian Communities That Care project. The coalition was formed at the start of the project for the twelve participating localities and grew from the twelve local coordinators and the county coordinator to include expert groups of up to seven members (epidemiological monitoring; programmes and evaluation), the leaders and members of the five priority-intervention groups and, at times, the five to seven members of the action council. Twenty-nine members rated the coalition with the Community Organizational Assessment Tool on decision-making, management and leadership development, non-financial resources, community support, planning and priorities, results and strategies, measuring success and accountability, and policy development; results are given as descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. Perceived strengths were the coalition's staffing, its training in community prevention and effective programmes and its priority and goal setting based on needs analysis. Perceived weaknesses were advocacy for prevention at county and local level and influence on social policy, networking and collaboration with similar groups, citizen involvement, continuous member training and sustainability through transferring knowledge to practitioners. The paper is an internal process evaluation by the coalition itself.
