Resumo
Congress communication printed in the annual issue of the journal Εγκληματολογία that collects the papers of the Hellenic Society of Criminology's Second Panhellenic Congress on crime prevention. It condenses the Cypriot Communities That Care school survey already reported in the authors' 2016 Festschrift chapter, with Greek and English abstracts. The paper reviews antisocial behaviour in Cyprus, the legal framework and earlier self-report surveys, then presents the CTC survey of 871 pupils aged 12 to 15 in three Nicosia-district gymnasia (Latsia, Aglantzia, Klirou), collected between 2007 and 2012 with a 112-item questionnaire and analysed with structural equation models against eleven delinquency indicators. Risk and protective factors at the level of the pupil, the family, the school and the neighbourhood were related to alcohol and drug use and offending; some protective factors ameliorated the effect of risk factors, and risk factors related far more strongly to antisocial activity than protective factors did. The authors read the findings as consistent with surveys in the Netherlands, the United States and Australia and as an argument for addressing risk and protective factors simultaneously. As with the 2016 chapter, it is a cross-sectional analysis and reports no evaluation of the Latsia programme.
