The title quotes the standard objection to imported prevention concepts, and the two authors, the project lead at the Landespräventionsrat Niedersachsen and the head of the accompanying evaluation at Cologne University of Applied Sciences, use it to discuss whether Communities That Care can be transferred to German conditions. They outline the CTC approach and the US randomised trial behind it, describe the model project SPIN (Sozialräumliche Prävention in Netzwerken, December 2008 to December 2012) in which CTC was tested at three sites in Lower Saxony, and present the design of the evaluation (context, input, process, product) together with interim findings on phases 1 to 3: CTC proved compatible with German youth welfare administration and its governance culture, met with high acceptance among practitioners, depended on a coordinator with a defined time budget, and relied on the Grüne Liste Prävention as its programme pool.
