Report from the EU-funded Frontline Politeia project, compiled by Estonia's National Institute for Health Development with partners in eight countries, on what local prevention practitioners collect and need in terms of data on youth problems and their risk and protective factors, and what training they want. Between May and June 2022 the national teams held focus groups, key-informant consultations or questionnaires in 17 pilot communities in Germany, Estonia, Croatia, Greece, Finland, Sweden, Spain and Portugal. Only the German and Swedish pilot sites already ran the Communities That Care Youth Survey and were satisfied with it; elsewhere data came from individual schools or national surveys that could not be broken down to community level and rarely covered risk and protective factors. Communities asked for data on substance use, mental health, self-harm and gambling, preferred an external partner for analysis, and wanted data collection tied to prevention planning. Country by country, the report records the decision to adapt or reuse the CTC Youth Survey, with Finland possibly using its national school survey instead. A second chapter summarises training needs feeding the project's EUPC-based curriculum. The report is a needs assessment, not an evaluation; an Estonian summary is included.
