Streszczenie
Narrative review from the Zagreb Laboratory for Prevention Research on community readiness as the first step of implementing prevention in communities. Drawing on a literature search across eleven databases without date limits, it presents readiness models (Self-Organizational Community Readiness Model, Community Readiness for Change, the Tri-Ethnic Center's Community Readiness Model, the APPEAL stages model) and assessment instruments (Community Readiness Inventory, Minnesota Community Readiness Survey, Community Prevention Readiness Self-Assessment Tool, Community Key Leader Survey), tabulating the advantages and limitations of each. A section on Croatia summarises the readiness work of the Istrian Communities That Care project (2002–2005 and 2006–2009; a key-leader survey of 151 people on four dimensions, followed by almost a year of key-leader training), the UNDP and Ministry of the Interior evaluation of the Čakovec and Split prevention councils (2010) and the „Prevencija u zajednici“ project (2017–2018) in three communities around Zagreb, which used a modified Community Readiness Model with focus groups, mayor interviews and key-leader and coalition questionnaires across five areas. The authors recommend a readiness assessment before any community investment and name the turnover of key people with political cycles as a recurring obstacle. No new data are reported.
