Résumé
Original scientific paper from the Istrian scientific-action project „Zajednice koje brinu kao model prevencije poremećaja u ponašanju“, run by the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences with Istria County's department of health and social welfare. In the wider areas of Labin, Pazin, Poreč and Pula, 489 young people drawn from all secondary schools and 407 of their parents (896 respondents in all) completed the 24-item community questionnaire „Upitnik o vašoj zajednici“. First-order factor analysis extracted six factors, and discriminant analysis on these latent dimensions compared the two groups. Young people rated the availability of alcohol and drugs in the community higher than their parents did and judged the community more tolerant of youth risk behaviour; the factors contributing most to the discriminant function were availability of alcohol in the community, community tolerance of risk behaviour and availability of drugs. The authors suggest that such perception gaps can guide the planning of community interventions aimed at reducing risk factors. The paper is a cross-sectional comparison within the project's needs assessment and reports no intervention or outcome data.
