Report in German from the Universitätsverlag Hildesheim (2018) documenting the third state-wide CTC student survey in Lower Saxony, conducted in May and June 2017 by the University of Hildesheim in cooperation with the Landespräventionsrat Niedersachsen at the Ministry of Justice. Communities That Care aims to prevent adolescent problem behaviour by establishing positive conditions in municipalities that let children and young people grow up safely and healthily, and the state-wide survey supplies the reference values against which a municipality can read its own local survey. A stratified random sample of 308 classes at 268 schools in grades 6 to 11 was drawn with a target of 7,000 pupils; 2,752 took part and 2,284 questionnaires remained after data cleaning, weighted by grade and school type. The report presents prevalences of problem behaviours and of the CTC risk and protective factors for the whole state, so that CTC coalitions can identify the problem areas of their community and choose matching prevention programmes.
