Report in German from the Universitätsverlag Hildesheim (2016) on the 2015 state-wide CTC student survey in Lower Saxony, part of the Communities That Care prevention strategy and carried out in cooperation with the Landespräventionsrat Niedersachsen at the Ministry of Justice. The University of Hildesheim’s Institute of Psychology prepared the data collection, analysed the data and wrote the report, while the participating schools administered the web-based questionnaire themselves. Pupils in grades 6 to 11 of all public and private mainstream schools formed the target population; a stratified systematic random sample with a target of 7,000 pupils was drawn, 115 of the 254 schools contacted took part with 125 classes, 2,670 pupils responded and 2,459 questionnaires were retained after cleaning and weighted to the state’s distribution of grades and school types. The resulting state-wide reference values for problem behaviours and for risk and protective factors are the benchmark against which Lower Saxony’s CTC municipalities compare their own local surveys when they compile their community profile.
