Spanish-language account in the journal Adicciones of how the Corporación Nuevos Rumbos adapted Communities That Care for Colombia as Comunidades Que se Cuidan (CQC) and implemented it in eight communities over more than two years. The authors situate CTC in its public-health and social-development roots and explain the core aim: to enable communities to make decisions from local data on substance-use prevalence and on risk and protective factors, measured with the original youth survey validated in Colombia, and then to select tested interventions that fit their needs. The paper describes the implementation process, the departures from the US model, the construction of Colombian cut-points for the risk-factor scales, and the main difficulties encountered and how they were resolved. It contains no effectiveness data. It is the foundational description of the Latin American CTC branch and a practical reference for any European team facing questions of translation, norming and cultural fit.
